DIY Gel Nails with Broadway Nails Real Life Brush-On Gel Nail Kit

Majority of girls love getting their nails done from the salon. Whether it be the classic french white tip acrylics or coloured acrylics, false nails are very popular within the beauty industry! Not only are acrylics popular, gel nails are the new on-trend beauty must have! Gel nails are not as harsh on the nails, as it is just like putting on nail polish. In this post, I will be giving a step by step guide on how to do your very own gel nails in the comfort of your own home for an affordable price!

A few months ago I purchased the Broadway Nails Real Life Brush-On Gel Nail Kit. This can be bought from Boots and Superdrug, for around £12. The first time I used the product, my nails did not come out as well as I had hoped and I never used it again. Just yesterday I re-discovered the product and thought I'd give it another go. This time my nails came out perfectly and I was very happy with the results. As I have said before, practice makes perfect!

The kit comes with 3 different bottled products, a nail file, cuticle stick, instructions and 48 false nails. I chose to get the clear nailed gel kit as I like to paint over the top, but they also come in white tips.

Placing the bottles in this order (Brush-On Gel, Brush-On Activator and Brush Cleaner) will make it easier for when starting the gel nail process.

Step One
I found that it is easier for me to see which nails fit my own nails perfectly and then to line these out on a table in front of me. Using the Brush-On Gel, apply this to the majority of the false nail and place as well as you can on to your own nail. Press down firmly on the corners to prevent these from coming off at a later stage. You will notice that the nails have little tabs at the end of them, do not pull these off!

Step Two
Once you have done this, use the Brush Cleaner to apply a thin layer across the joining between your own nail and the false nail. This helps to give the join a clean surface and makes application of the gel easier. You can now remove the tabs at the end of the nails. DO NOT twist them! Gently move the tab up and down and it will eventually fall off :).

Step Three
Now this is the fun part, creating the gel! I found that it was easier to do 2 nails at a time, rather than one hand all at once. This part needs to be done quickly, but neatly. You will need to take the lid off the Brush-On Activator. You will find that this does not have a brush on the end of it. You then need to remove the lid of Brush Cleaner and put this into the Brush-On Activator bottle. Firstly, you need to apply the Brush-On Gel on top of the whole nail, just as you would if you was painting your nails. Do this evenly and try to avoid getting any on your skin. When this is done, you need to apply the Brush-On Activator next. Do this in the exact same way as you did with the Brush-On Gel, apply evenly and avoid the skin. Every time you finish doing one nail, you will need to put the brush back into the Brush Cleaner. This will help to prevent the brush from becoming clumpy and ruining all your hard work! The amazing thing about this product, is that it dries completely flat, smooth and super shiny!

Step Four
Once all the nails are completely dry, you can repeat Step Three to add another layer to double make sure that the nails will not pop off. If not, you can go ahead and paint over the top and you're done! :)

I hope that you found this post useful and that the end result for you, was just as good as it was for me! :)

Models Own

As I have now officially finished university, it is time for me to get a grown-up job in the real world! Because I want to become a counsellor, this can take up to 5 years. So in the mean time, I decided that it would be a good idea to get a job to help me become financially stable and to also look for what work experience I can do linking to becoming a counsellor.

A few weeks ago I applied for a job at Models Own. Models Own is a cosmetics company which consists of; nail polishes, lipsticks, eye-shadows, eye-liners, lipglosses, nail art tools, brushes, etc. They have recently opened bottleshops in London. A bottleshop is basically just like a normal shop, except it is in the shape of a nail polish bottle and is located in the middle of a shopping centre, rather than built into one.

Models Own have the most amazing coloured nail polishes. They are bright, fun and eye-catching! They have a scented range which smells gorgeous on your nails and recently released two new nail polish ranges; Hyper Gel and Polish for Tans, perfect for the summer!

Models Own have decided that they want to expand their business, so they have opened bottleshops in the Meadowhall shopping centre and in the Leeds White Rose Centre.

I was lucky enough to pass both stages of the interview process and will be starting full-time at Models Own at the end of this month. I cannot tell you how excited I am to begin working here! This is like the most perfect job for me, as I am soooo passionate about nail polishes, nails, etc!

Everyone who already works at Models Own and the people I will soon be working with are lovely people, and I know this will make my experience at Models Own that bit more enjoyable!

My Favourite Nail Designs

Since I have been doing nail art designs for the past two years, there is a lot of designs that you would have missed out on! Last year I counted how many designs I had done and this came up to 64 designs. Because I have been doing more designs since then, it would be impossible for me to upload over 100 on one post. So I have decided that I will upload a few of my most favourite designs and hope you like them too!

All my designs can be found on my Facebook page and Instagram :)

I mainly use nail polish products from Barry M, Miss Sporty, MUA, Models Own, Rimmel and Primark. Sometimes I will use the odd one from supermarkets and the poundshop (you'd be surprised at the quality!).

A Simple Hello :)

Firstly, I would like to start off by saying that in no way do I think that I am a nail artist, I am not. I am just a girly girl who likes to do her nails literally all the time and I am always trying out new designs.

Now that that's out the way.. Hello :)! I am a 22 year old girl from Leeds and I absolutely LOVE doing my nails. At first it started off by constantly changing the colour of my nails and experimenting with different colours that suited my skin colour. I then discovered YouTube and came across different nail art tutorials, and I would try to copy the design. This is something which I found that I loved to do!

I am a very creative person, so doing different nail designs came naturally to me. Just like everything else in life, practice made perfect. The more nail designs I did, the better I became. In no way am I up to the standards of a professional nail artist/ technician, but I am much much better than I was a few years ago.

I would constantly post my nail art pictures on Facebook and Instagram, and soon my friends were asking me where I had got my nails done. When I told them that I did them myself, they were shocked and wanted me to do their nails. At this time I was a student and had no job, so I created a Facebook page where I would post all my nail art pictures and it was suggested that people pay me a small amount for me to do their nails.

This was the best decision I ever made, as more people came to know about the nail art that I did and it helped me greatly to improve. Not only was I doing something that I love, but I was also getting paid for it, even if it was only a small amount.

At the beginning, my nail art was very popular among my friends and others. But as time went on, less and less people were willing to pay for my nail art designs. This is something which I expected to happen eventually, so I was grateful for the people who came to me to do their nails.

Currently, I do not do nail art on other people, but I am always changing my own nails and still posting them on to my Facebook page and Instagram.

I decided to create this nail art blog because I believe that it will be useful to others. It would give other girls inspiration for their own nails and to also let them know which products are good and which are not. This blog will give girls ideas and tips on how to make creating nail art that little bit easier.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog post and I look forward to creating many for you :)
